PWI vs KTK: Pune Warriors beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 4 wickets
Mohnish Mishra's unbeaten 37 and Robin Uthappa's 13-ball 31 led Pune Warriors to an emphatic four-wicket win over Kochi Tuskers in their IPL match at the D.Y. Patil stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Robin Uthappa and Wayne Parnell fell in successive overs as Kochi Tuskers fought hard but were not able to contain Mishra.
Uthappa smashed 2 sixes and 3 fours in his fiery knock before he was clean bowled by Muttiah Muralitharan and in the next over Parnell was run out to leave Pune at 118/6.
Brad Hodge dismissed Mithun Manhas and Yuvraj Singh in his successive overs to lead Kochi's fightback.
Hodge first had Manhas caught by Ravindra Jadeja at long-on and in the next over took the prized wicket of Pune captain Yuvraj having him caught behind by Parthiv Patel.
Hodge's breakthroughs came after Jadeja had Graeme Smith caught by RP Singh at deep mid-wicket off a full toss.
Vinay Kumar took a good return catch to dismiss Jesse Ryder (17) as Pune Warriors lost their first wicket with 31 runs on the board in pursuit of 149.
Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja's 47, Brad Hodge's 39 and Raiphi Gomez's 26 took Kochi Tuskers Kerala to 148/8.
Brad Hodge (38) and Ravindra Jadeja (46) put up a 88-run partnership before falling in successive overs.
Hodge and Jadeja came together at the crease when Kochi were struggling at 24/4 in 5 overs.
Wayne Parnell was the wrecker-in-chief for Pune as he dismissed VVS Laxman, Mahela Jayawardene and Parthiv Patel in successive overs.
Kochi got off to a bad start as Alfonso Thomas had Brendon McCullum caught behind by Robin Uthappa on the first ball of the match.
Parnell got into the act in the third over of the match. First Laxman (0) edged a delivery onto his stumps and then Jayawardene edged one as Uthappa took a good diving catch behind the stumps.
In his next over, Parnell had Patel caught by Graeme Smith at first slip as Kochi lost their fourth wicket with only 24 runs on the board.
This was after Jaywardene won the toss and chose to bat.
Both the teams are unchanged from the last match.
